Air leakage tester and constant volume bomb: the "dual guardians" of chemical safety

Recently, a violent explosion occurred at a chemical enterprise in Gaomi City. The explosion yield was equivalent to 2.3 tons of TNT. The resulting shock wave shattered all the glass of buildings within a radius of 800 meters and caused the chlorine concentration in the surrounding area to exceed the standard by 23 times. The accident has resulted in 5 deaths and 23 injuries.

 

1. A 137-second countdown to life and death

Within 137 seconds, three safety barriers collapsed simultaneously: the DCS failed to issue a warning, the SIS system malfunctioned, and the automatic cooling system broke down, ultimately leading to a tragedy.

At 11:55:12, the central control room detected an abnormal temperature in the nitrification reactor(Suddenly rising from 80℃ to 147℃)

At 11:56:03, the automatic cooling system failed to start. The on-duty personnel manually operated the emergency pressure relief valve

At 11:56:47, an open flame first appeared in the southeast corner of the workshop, but the fire sprinkler system was not triggered

At 11:57:29, an explosion occurred in the main reactor (equivalent to 2.3 tons of TNT).

At 11:58:06, a series of explosions caused xylene leakage and combustion in the adjacent storage tank area

 

Ii. The "Achilles' Heel" Behind Chemical Accidents

The investigation directly pointed out five major systemic loopholes:

1. Equipment failure: The sealing gasket of the reaction vessel has aged and not been replaced.

2. Overloading operation: The original designed production capacity was 20,000 tons per year, but the actual operating load reached 187%.

3. Inadequate emergency response: 80% of the operators have not received safety training in fine chemicals.

4. Regulatory failure: In 2024, the enterprise concealed three explosion and fire accidents and was only fined 350,000 yuan to "buy out" the hidden dangers.

5. Technical defense line collapse: The SIS system was not triggered, and the fire sprinkler system was ineffective.

Let the volumetric bomb become the "safety sandbox" for process development, and let the sealing performance detector transform into the "stethoscope" for equipment health.
